A credit line on UPI allows eligible customers to make UPI payments using a pre-sanctioned credit facility provided by a bank. Instead of paying directly from a savings or current account, the transaction can be charged to the linked credit line, subject to the bank’s terms, available limit and applicable charges.
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) introduced the framework for operating pre-sanctioned credit lines through UPI, while the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) provides the UPI infrastructure and onboarding framework.
If your bank and UPI app support this facility, you can generally activate and link the credit line through the app.
